Mario Sergio Pino-Hurtado holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas (UCLV) in 2017 and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university in 2019. He holds a Master's degree in Chemistry and Biotechnology from the University of La Rioja (UR) in 2020. He started his research career in 2016, linked to the research line "Strategies for obtaining chemical and agro-food products with high added value" of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the UCLV. Since 2019, he is part of the OneHealth-UR Research Group coordinated by Prof. Carmen Torres with the Research Initiation Grant (UR-2019) for Master students. Since October 2021, he has been pursuing his doctoral studies in the Ph.D. Program in Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences, under the supervision of Prof. Carmen Torres and Prof. Myriam Zarazaga, studying the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in environmental settings under the OneHealth approach and the search for new antimicrobial substances produced by bacteria from different environments. He has also participated in other teaching and outreach activities organized by the University of La Rioja (EMYDUR)/Campus Iberus, such as “I Jornadas Científicas en la UR” organized by the “Consejo de Sabios” (of which he is a founding member), “Jornadas Doctorales Jaca 2023”, “European Night of the Researchers 2023”, MicroMundo UR Project 2023 and “Semana de la Ciencia”, among others.
