Crisis económica y estrategia de innovación en las empresas españolas

Resumen

el propósito de este trabajo es examinar las consecuencias de la crisis económica en las actividades de innovación de una muestra de empresas españolas, particularmente en las actividades de i+D. Para ello, en primer lugar examinamos si las empresas usan modelos de innovación abiertos o cerrados, esto es, si externalizan o no sus actividades de i+D total o parcialmente. Seguidamente analizamos el nivel de apertura, medido como la proporción de gastos de i+D realizados externamente. nuestros resultados apuntan a que la decisión de externalizar las actividades de i+D no está relacionada directamente con el ciclo económico. El nivel de apertura, por el contrario, está relacionado de forma positiva con el ciclo económico. Concluimos que, aunque las empresas españolas no han abandonado sus proyectos de i+D externos como consecuencia de la crisis, su peso relativo en el total de actividades de i+D sí se ha reducido.
