Abstract

In this study a comparison of environmental impacts between different educational stages in a school, through methodology of LCA is developed. The considered stages are Pre-School, Primary, Secondary, Vocational Training and Basic Vocational Training, for which there has been made a life cycle inventory of the items affecting the school-life during an academic course. Calculations for different types of environmental impact categories for the base case are made, and three different scenarios are done to eliminate uncertainties of the case analyzed. The results show a clear tendency for students' activity to emit higher CO2 emissions as higher the level in the education system, mainly due to commuting emissions and energy consumption. A student of vocational training makes 8.8 times CO2 emissions than a student from Pre-School.
