Juan Luis Varona is Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computing at the University of La Rioja. He graduated in Mathematics at the University of Zaragoza in 1985 and defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Cantabria in 1988. He has extensive teaching experience in Mathematical Analysis, Differential Equations, Numerical Methods and Number Theory, as well as in programming languages common in Mathematics. He has published about 100 research articles and has participated in various research projects funded by the Spanish Government. He has been an organizer of several mathematical research conferences, including the International Congress of Mathematicians held in Madrid in 2006 (ICM 2006), and was editor of the conference proceedings. From 2007 to 2024, he has been editor-in-chief of La Gaceta de la Real Sociedad Matemática Española. He is an expert in TeX and LaTeX, and member of the TeX Users Group.
