Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse some derivational paradigms of Old English organized around basicadjectives. The analysis comprises different word-formation processses as well as members from alllexical categories. The implications are also discussed for the compilation of the lexical database of OldEnglish Nerthus. Conclusions insist on the fact that, firstly, the strong verb is not the only one categorythat can give rise to derivational paradigms in Old English, and, secondly, basic adjectives turn outderived predicates of different categories throughout several processes.
