Résumé

This paper analyzes the discourse of both education professionals and Pakistani women of different ages, in order to identify the variables which influence the learning processes of the Spanish language undertaken by Pakistani adult women living in La Rioja (Spain). This research tackles two aspects: the conditions that facilitate or boost access to Spanish language learning, and those which represent an obstacle for the learning processes. The conclusion collects some suggestions which should be taken into account when designing the educational global plans. Those plans, carried out by socio-educational institutions, must stimulate the learning of the Spanish language among foreign women, as this can be a powerful tool to integrate them and to promote social cohesion. These recommendations are made from an intercultural and gender approach applied to education.
