Zusammenfassung

This investigation work aimed analyse the influence of transformational leadership and organizational culture in organizational trust. We used a quantitative methodologic approach, working on a transversal exploratory and descriptive empiric study. For the purpose we analysed a portuguese public superior institution of education (Universidade da Beira Interior) where we put a questionnaire to professors respond, having 133 responses. We have considered transformational leadership from Bernard Bass (1985, 1990), assembling its various dimensions claimed from the author, as a whole construct. According organizational culture we have considered Joanne Martin's integration, differentiation, and fragmentation perspectives (1992, 2000, 2010). At last we have considered three variables from Mayer et al., (1995) studies: competence; integrity; and benevolence. Structural Equation Model (SEM) and multiple regression, using PLS (Partial Least Squares) program have allowed us to graphically and statistically analyse constructs and correlations between dimensions, and the influence of transformational leadership in variables of organizational culture (integration, differentiation, and fragmentation), and these ones in variables of organizational trust (competence, integrity and benevolence). We observed that transformational leadership relates directly with culture variables and trust variable of competence. We have concluded that effectively transformational leadership forces a direct and indirect influence over organizational trust, and culture influences total and directly organizational trust, but only through integration. We verify then, and according some authors, we confirm that transformational leadership relates and influences culture and trust within organizations generally, but also in education environment including college education.
