Abstract
The so-called attenuated or subclinical psychotic experiences concern psychotic signs and symptoms not clearly evident. It is about agroup of symptoms resembling the schizophrenia disorder, found in the general population in a continuum of severity, where the psy-chotic disorder represents the higher end. A comprehensive revision of the literature about prevalence rates of psychotic experiencesin non-clinical adolescents, published in the last years, was the purpose of this study. Likewise, the frequency of such experiences inSpanish adolescents was also examined. The results point out that psychotic experiences are a common and transient phenomenon inadolescence, not necessarily associated with psychopathology or further risk of psychosis. Otherwise, data analyses suggest that thepsychotic phenotype is also present beyond the frontiers of international classification systems. Future lines of research should exam-ine those adolescences experiences in greater depth.
