Francisco J. Ruiz de Mendoza has headed six national research projects and supervised fifteen doctoral dissertations. He is the co-head of the international research group Lexicom (www.lexicom.es). He has published over 190 papers in international journals and book series, has (co-) edited eight books and (co-)authored nine others, among them Cognitive Modeling. A Linguistic Perspective (with Alicia Galera, 2014, John Benjamins), which received the 2015 AESLA Research Award for Experienced Researchers, Ten Lectures on Cognitive Modeling. Between Grammar and Language-Based Inferencing (Distinguished Lectures in Cognitive Linguistics, vol. 25; 2021, Brill), Modeling Irony (with Inés Lozano, 2022, John Benjamins), and Figuring Out Figuration (with Sandra Peña, 2022, John Benjamins). He has been invited on more than 200 occasions to present his research at universities and conferences across the world. Editor of the Review of Cognitive Linguistics (Benjamins), and co-editor of Applications of Cognitive Linguistics (Mouton), and of The Bibliography on Metaphor and Metonymy (John Benjamins), he has served on 35 advisory boards for journals and book series. He presided over the Spanish Association of Applied Linguistics (2005-2011).
