Resumo

The literary ontology of Miguel de Unamuno is a hermeneutical proposal that evaluates existence considering the nivola. Literary characters are an essential part of this approach, a model on which fiction has a solid essence. For Unamuno, the existence of the world only occurs to the extent that an individual reader represents it as such. Through the fictional existence in the nivolas, Unamuno presents literary creatures who struggle to interpret their stories and who are animated by incarnated passions that define them as characters. In this literary cosmos, don Quixote has an important place, since he is the paradigm of a character that has been able to create his own reality through his praxis.
