Solar irradiation databases from satellite estimates are based on images taken fromsatellites with wide spatial resolution. The rising interest on solar energy technologiesand climate change generates the necessity of higher spatial resolution of solarirradiation data. The downscaling of satellite estimates provides an alternative to densepyranometers networks, which are very expensive to maintain. The methodologyproposed is based on the shade impact analysed from a digital elevation model of highspatial resolution and the surface reflectivity. This methodology is applied and validatedwith on-ground measurements in the Iregua river valley in the Spanish region of LaRioja. Eventually, it is generated a map of the annual sum of solar global irradiation forthis valley
