Abstract

The high uncertainty on natural gas prices and the development of concentrated solarenergy technologies has generated the expansion of integrated solar combined cycles(ISCCs). Since combined cycle gas turbines (CCGTs) reduce their efficiency at high airtemperatures, which are localized when higher beam irradiation is available, a synergyexists between this efficiency loss and its compensation with solar energy. Anintegration of solar energy in Arrubal CCGT is proposed and modelled under differentoperating scenarios for seeking the optimization of natural gas usage or higherelectricity yield.
