Resumo

Having constituted a relatively peripheral concept in Spanish political language during the preceding period, the second third of the nineteenth century showed the transformation of the concept of interest into a central word through which practically all the discourses of the time had to pass. Particularly relevant is its growing link with other lexical axes, such as those of political party and public opinion.
