The attempts of domination by the ecclesiastical hierarchies over nuns throughout the Modern Age have manifested themselves in historiography as a reality. However, far from accepting these impositions without reservations, the nuns expressed their opposition and rejection, motivating the appearance of expressions about deviations and transgressions in male authorship literature. The constant visits to the female convents by the hierarchies, as well as the multiple references to relaxes, disorders, faults or problems of government, highlight the constant concern of these powers for the fulfillment of submission, as well as the lack of it. Some works of the time, such as La Religiosa Instruida, from Franciscan Antonio Arbiol, and El Método práctico ... para instrucción de religiosas ..., by Jesuit Pedro de Calatayud, show these concerns. Both works give us a lot of information about life in the female convents through criticism, praise, warnings ..., allowing us to glimpse the ignorance of the rules, their non-compliance or the relaxation that marked the day to day.
