Abstract
This present work shows diagnosis as a Social Work intervention process phase. Through it, the assisted person is confronted with their situation, in order to be supported along the process of change, by developing an action plan. For diagnosis preparation, professionals need technical tools to compare specific situations and experiences to objective patterns of difficulty from which to guide the intervention. The Scale of Assessment of Situations of Social Difficulty (SiSo), developed by the Ministry of Social Welfare of Castilla-La Mancha, is presented as case analysis. It ends by underlining the importance of the relational aspect in the intervention process where the professional and the assisted person work together to identify the problems and the way to approach them, while the diagnosis provides information for decision-making at the micro and macro level of intervention.
