Los registros riojanos del catálogo de coleópteros ibéricos (Insecta: Coleoptera) de D. José María de la Fuente y Morales

Abstract

D. José María de la Fuente y Morales was one of the most renowned Spanish entomologists of the earliest 20th century. Among his outnumbered published studies, the catalogue of the Iberian beetles, published between the years 1918 and 1935, is the most prominent. In this paper, the species from La Rioja (northern Spain) registered in this catalogue have been compiled; their taxonomy has been updated; and the accuracy of the citation has been analized in accordance with the current knowledge we have about these insects group. Furthermore, from the 414 compiled, 30 species have been excluded, due to their distribution not being compatible with their presence in La Rioja. Likewise, as the presence of some of these species has not been cited from this region again since then, it requires to be confirmed.
