Resumen alternativo:Most of the works that have investigated the factors that could influence the ability of family SMEs to survive crisis have done so from the perspective of the company. Although they are closely related, they could be complementary, given the size of this type of company, we believe that it is useful to analyse this phenomenon from a more individual perspective. That is, we defend that the entrepreneur could be the most important factor to explain the ability of family SMEs to survive crisis. As leaders of the organization, family entrepreneurs have a critical influence on the activities and processes of their companies since their values and behaviours end up being integrated into the strategic orientation of the company. Therefore, this work aims to reflect on how some of the aspects that characterize the company leader, specifically his entrepreneurial orientation and resilience, can influence the success of family SMEs and their survival.
