Abstract

Democratic consolidation in Taiwan in the early nineties, favor the appearance of research on the movements and figures of the political left in the island. This article participates in this line of research and approaching the figure of Hsueh-Hung Hsieh, founder of Taiwanese Communist Party and commander of the 27th Brigade, the unit of volunteers who faced to the armies of the KMT during the 228 Incident. The biography of Hsieh gives an overview of political life of Taiwan during the years of Japanese occupation and the early years of the KMT; but also help us to know a key moment in the crossroads of the contemporary history of China and Taiwan
