Abstract

The situation experienced in recent years in the Spanish economy and more specifically in the construction sector warrants some reflection. This paper analyzes the economic and demographic data from the construction sector in the period 2003-2013. Values are studied in two series: 2003-2007 the period of expansion and 2008-2013 rescission. National data and the Autonomous Community of La Rioja are presented. The balance of housing is assessed in detail in the villages of the region. In the period there have been major and profound changes in society and the productive sector. The diagram of follows the results and conclusions are presented referring to: the population, the business sector and housing production.
