Abstract

This paper reviews the arrival of the kinematograph in Logroño in November 1896, and the context the new invention found. After several decades during which the history of cinema has elaborated a map of the introduction and reception of the new spectacle in Spain, more recently the publication of monographies on the pioneers who worked in the neighboring provinces and the study of the town journalistic sources allow to reconstruct the first days of the cinema in Logroño, the profile of the people involved, the conditions under which the first exhibitions took place, the content and origin of the films, and the journalistic and personal testimony of their first columnist, Zoilo Zorzano Gómez.
