Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present a panorama of situation of the existing models of evaluation of the educative quality at Superior Level, emphasizing, in this sense, the educative model in Venezuela and particularly, in the Schools of Engineering. This work presents some models and situations framed in different aspects and criteria in Venezuela that have been defined on the basis of some indicators like, for example, number of doctors versus total number of professors, whole time professors versus total number of professors, hours of practice versus hours of theory, hours of laboratory versus hours of theory, and so on. Concepts like service quality and its relationship with quality in education are approached. It also let to know the most important organisms that certify and credit quality in Venezuela and the world. A scheme of the structure of the educative system in Venezuela appears, from university degree to fourth level education and all its branches. Besides, it was made a list of the institutions that offer the career of engineering classifying them in public and private. An analysis is made of what exists and what is being done and its relationship with quality evaluation. There is also a proposal of projects that can be presented in the future and that investigation patterns that can be developed from this work. Search of information was made through institutions that regulate the educative system in Venezuela, such as the OPSUSU (Office of Planning University System), the CNUCNUCNU (National Advice of Universities), and some works, in the matter of educative quality, made by the most important universities of the country. All this analysis is in order to propose a model that allows determining the quality of the Schools of Engineering in Venezuela.
