Resumo

The present work tries to analyze the problem of doing good rescarch profile in the main areas of Management (Marketing, Finance and Accounting and Strategic Management and Organization). In order to do this, we have set three basic objectives: (1) to know the rescarch profile of the university staff in the areas mentioned in Spain; (2) to compare the perspective of doctors and no doctors about the rescarch process; and, (3) to identify the main problems and needs of the researchers, specially methodological problems. The empirical study, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, is based in a postal poll adressed to spanish university teachers. The questionnaire had five sections: professional data, doctoral thesis, basic characteristics of a quality research, methodology of the process and key factors of success of the research
