The acquisition and arrangement of European instrumental music was a frequent practice in Spanish cathedrals in late 18th and early 19th centuries. This is demonstrated by numerous sources located in several archives, which preserve this type of repertoire. This manuscript consists of three case studies. The first one documents the channels to which these compositions arrived at these institutions. The second and third ones explain how some local cathedral musicians arranged instrumental collections advertised in Madrid newspapers. This approach gives visibility to a phenomenon that has rarely been addressed in the musicological literature so far.
