Abstract

After a decade of reflection and discussion, European university education professionals now face the challenge of implementing new syllabuses that should, among other objectives, foster the employability of our students. Are the skills developed at Spanish universities those that are required by society in general and organizations in particular? This is our starting point. This study analyses the labour situation of recent university graduates, by faculties and degrees, and studies potential imbalances between the skills acquired at university and their practical application at work. This study also compares the skills acquired by students after university (before accessing the labour market) and those developed by university graduates after several years in the labour market.
