Abstract

This doctoral thesis focuses on the analysis of energy efficiency improvement in elevators. It begins with a tour of the history of lifts, and their classification according to the tractor group, analyzing the more significant elements and components and their respective functions, which is complemented by an analysis of the park of elevators in Spain. An energy study of the elevators is developed, classifying them according to the energy consumption, based on the German standard to know the possible advantages and disadvantages of other regulations. The energy improvements introduced in the world of the elevator are analyzed according to the existing regulations, and lift illumination studies are carried out in order to comply with the regulations. The importance of improving the energy efficiency of lighting is studied in depth. After illumination studies, and especially after analyzing possible energy improvements in the market, the next step consists in efficiency improvement in vertical transport. For this, it is modeled, simulated and analyzed an electric elevator with an original contribution of improvement of the counterweights system to improve the energy efficiency with respect to the currently existing ones.
