Resumen

The aspects which endow supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) with the features of a clean method are discussed and compared with conventional methodologies traditionally used to leach solid samples. Dramatic reduction in the use of organic solvents, both in the leaching step and subsequent clean-up stages, which are avoided or minimised, in addition to other toxic reagents used for interference removal and the smaller sample size make SFE the ideal technique for implementing clean methods.
