Zusammenfassung
The aqueous swelling kinetic and cooperative diffusion coefficient were studied for various crosslinked polyacrylamide gels, copolymerized with N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMA), containing different crosslinker ratios, monomer concentrations and percentages of ionizable monomer. The cooperative diffusion coefficient was determined using a theory developed by Li and Tanaka for the swelling kinetics of disk gels. Using experimental design, response surfaces were calculated for the cooperative diffusion coefficient as a function of gel composition. The results obtained show that the degree of crosslinking and the percentage of ionizable monomer are the variables which most strongly affect the cooperative diffusion coefficient. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
