Resumen

Collision-free lifetimes for various rovibrational levels ( u', J') of Br 2 B 3 Π (O u +) state in the vicinity of the crossing point with the repulsive 1 Pi (1 u) state ( u'=2, 3, 4, 6 and 7) have been measured by laser induced fluorescence. Self-quenching rate constants (k Br2) and predissociation constants (k u') have been obtained, showing the stability of the u'=2 level and significant predissociation effects in the rest. An important dependence of k u' upon angular momentum and isotopic composition has been observed. These results are explained in terms of predissociation probability calculations (P u'J') between the B and 1 Π states. © 1991 IOP Publishing Ltd.
