Abstract
Detection of high-level aminoglycoside resistance in 172 Enterococcus spp. clinical isolates was studied with the MicroScan® system using panels containing dextrose-phosphate broth (DPB). The disk-diffusion method, using high-concentration disks, was used as reference. The specificity of the DPB panels for detecting both high-level streptomycin resistance and high-level gentamicin resistance was 100%; the sensitivity was 96.6% and 100%, respectively.
