Resumen

Drama is among the most commonly used genres in historical pragmatics due to its dialogical essence and its intention to reflect the spoken language. This study analyses the evolution of hola, the most common greeting marker in present-day Spanish. We will focus on the pragmatic function of the item in the seventeenth century, as well as on the possible differences in its usage nowadays. Thus, we will also consider the evolution of the different functions, especially at the sociolinguistic level. We have selected a corpus of 36 plays included in the first three parts of Calderón de la Barca's Comedias, which were published in 1636, 1637 and 1664 respectively
